Top drawer SG disco manoeuvres
The DJ Dispensary and 1880 serve up a real treat for proper music lovers on Friday 26th July, in the delightful forms of CC:DISCO and Gerry Rooney.
CC:DISCO brings a lot of love to the party. Her fitting slogan, ‘less chin-stroking, more dancing’ offers a pretty strong clue to her musical ethos. Playing her blend of disco, house and boogie straight from the heart -and aimed squarely at the dance-floor - she brings joy and feeling to the crowds she entertains. A shining example of one of the many bright lights from Melbourne’s thriving music community, she’s a regular player on the local club scene, also hosting the essential Friday night party-starting ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ radio show on PBS. Her dynamic sets have since led to regular international club and festival bookings - playing alongside Moodymann, Theo Parrish and many others - as well as guest appearances on Worldwide, NTS, and Red Light Radio.
Next up on the bill is champion digger, Gerry Rooney. One-half of edit masters Velvet Season & The Hearts Of Gold, he also created and produced the wondrous Black Cocks record label - alongside the universally adored DJ Harvey. In a world awash with pointless and poorly assembled edits, Gerry’s work stands out - like a giant, flaming beacon - as lovingly crafted, expertly produced, and intelligently curated. Velvet Season’s ‘Midnight Mounting’ still gets plenty of plays at Cosmic Tiger HQ, and the psychedelic jazz freak out ‘Love Generation’ is ever-present in the record box.
Singapore residents should be eternally grateful to The DJ Dispensary’s Matty Wainwright - with help from Grey Goose - for pulling this one together. This long night is sure to bring a sprinkle of magic to town. SG massive - get yourselves down to 1880, full event info here
