Dream-inducing Gerd Janson teaser marks incoming Zimmer remix package
Following the arrival of last year's well-received album, French producer Zimmer returns with a delightfully varied remix EP, in the process assembling a dazzling ensemble cast of studio wizards to offer up unique interpretations of some of the highlights of the collection. Enlisted on the controls are Gerd Janson, Lauer, Zombies In Miami, You Man, and Kendal. In advance of the full release, Running Back boss man Janson's exquisite version of 'Rey' hits the stores today and is sure to rouse a good dose of hype as a result.
You Man offers up a smoke-filled chug version of 'Wildflowers’, enlivened by Panama's haunting vocal, while Mexican outfit Zombies In Miami deliver a pulsating, arp-heavy rave interpretation of 'Mayans'. Lauer's club-ready mix of 'Mouvement' allows the bass to take centre stage, and is as well-produced and effective as always, while newcomer Kendal exhibits serious style with his boldly uplifting, downtempo rave remix of 'Techno Disco'. Finally, Amtrac's poolside pop version of 'Make it Happen' takes the release into entirely new crossover territory.
Gerd Janson presents short and extended versions of his 'Rey Dance Mix', showing the class we've come to expect from him with his immaculately assembled versions. It's the extended edit that's available from today. The retro-leaning track comes on purposefully with it's infectiously chugging synth bass, hands-in-the-air lead stabs lift the cut in euphoric fashion before choral vocals complete the rush-inducing atmosphere. The blissed-out groove is undoubtedly star gazing, but full-bodies enough to move the floor. This is a memorable soundtrack that deserves to live on far beyond the muted summer we've just endured, fortunately, the timeless nature of the music suggests it will endure into the happier days that are sure to follow.
