Night Moves returns to Potato Head Bali with Kamma & Masalo
The fast-rising duo touch down for more ocean-side delights.
Kamma and Masalo are the collective force behind ‘Brighter Days’ in their hometown of Amsterdam. One of Europe’s hottest parties right now, the event has played host to the very best of the esoteric dancer’s underground, including Hunee, Ge-ology, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, and many others.
Kamma was born and raised in Amsterdam and is the daughter of two veteran DJs. As such, she’s received an immersive education into worlds of jazz, funk, disco and house, which have helped endow her with an ear for dope music that belies her age. Her exploits on the turntables have led to some seriously impressive international dates and an ever-growing gig schedule.
Masalo has roots in Japan but made a name for himself on the underground of the Dutch capital. He’s known for his genre-defying DJ sets, and it’s these diverse sounds that shape his slick production style. His co-productions with Chicago’s Jamie 3:26 garnered some hefty support, but it’s probably his recent debut on Rush Hour that burst him onto the radars of some of the scene’s heaviest hitters. We absolutely love it, and it’s been a feature of our sets since it popped earlier this year. Some kind of seductive hybrid of Italo, disco, and proto-house, its contagious groove is driven by arpeggiated bass and intoxicating synth lines. Melodic, driving, emotive and funky, it perfectly fits the zeitgeist. Check it here (above) if you haven’t already.
Joining the pair on selection duty will be the Tantrà crew, fully charged and fresh from their recent excursion with Henrik Schwarz. This is another inspired booking from the Night Moves team and yet another reason why Potato Head continues to burn brightly as a go-to hub of transcendent music in the region.
