Boiler Room hits the Bali beachside with Gerd Janson
Everyone’s favourite party-stream brings the funk to the Island of Gods on Saturday 7th December.
Two giant names in the world of disco-raving will be on show at Bali’s La Brisa beach club this weekend, in the ultra-fine form of Gerd Janson and Bolier Room. These names need very little in the way of introduction, but in the spirit of digest, summarise we shall.
Boiler Room changed the game when it launched back in 2010. Since then it’s grown exponentially and has offered a platform for countless acts, including Theo Parrish, Floating Points, Hunee - and basically almost anyone hot in the scene that you can imagine - along the way helping to catapult the careers of more than a few DJs.
Gerd Janson is boss man at Running Back Records, a label synonymous with disco-infused house, techno and electro slanted grooves. Always high quality and almost always aimed squarely at shaking bodies, it’s a go-to label for purveyors of cutting edge dancing sounds. Gerd is also pretty prolific in the studio, his music exudes feel-good energy, he’s released work on Running Back, Permanent Vacation, Soul Clap and many others. He’s also compiled highly regarded compilations for Fabric and Rush Hour and collaborates with the mighty Lauer as Tuff City Kids. If that isn’t enough, he also runs regular club night ‘Liquid’ at Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson and is part of the team at Red Bull Music Academy. He’s a DJ who will always unearth dance-floor gems, and his dynamic energy behind the turntables have helped see him fly all over the world with his record box.
Boiler Room have shifted their focus a little in recent times and now aim to highlight local scenes, artists and collectives. As such, here they’re teaming up with Tiago Oudman, PNNY, Tantrà and Mistral to help present the essence of Bali’s balmy nightlife.
PNNY is an 8 member party collective born out of Bali who have been carefully curating events on the island since 2014, along the way generating some serious heat and hosting top-drawer international talent, including Chaos In The CBD, Spencer Parker, and many others.
Portugal’s Tiago resides in Bali and is one of the driving forces behind the island's Air Festival, and we’ve covered Tantrà’s exploits in previous event previews, the crew having brought Henrik Schwarz, and Kamma and Masalo to Potato Head recently.
Also on the bill is Panorama Bar / Barghaim resident, ND_Baumecker, who is sure to bring some cutting edge Berlin-inspired power to proceedings.
This is one for the diaries for sure, full event info can be found by clicking on the flyer.
