We’ve long been fans of Marco Gallerani’s vividly off the wall Hell Yeah Records. A label that delights in charting a course to obscure waters, their exceptional catalogue includes music from Justin Van Der Volgen, Prins Thomas, Max Essa, Alexander Robotnik, and Kito Jempere among many others.

Here they release the final part of a trilogy of reworks from Calm’s 2018 ‘By Your Side’ album. The Japanese producer, real name Fukagawa Kiyotaka, delivered a stunning collection that spanned genres of ambient, Balearic, and deep disco. On this package, we hear a typically blissful revision of ‘You Can See The Sunrise Again’ from solar maestro Phil ‘Cantoma’ Mison, while label regular — and resident of Hell Yeah’s monthly Buena Onda night in Berlin — Gallo creates zero gravity flotations in his delicate interpretation of ‘Sky Color Passing’.

The first of our picks to play you is the wonderfully psychedelic synth work displayed on Yuri Shulgin’s mix of 'Ending of Summer, Beginning of Autumn'. Yuri is a producer and multi-instrumentalist from Tajikistan who’s credits include work on Cocktail D’Amore. His meandering take bursts with dazzling arpeggios over an abstract arrangement for deep-space explorations.

Next, we have Lucas Croon’s version of ‘Before Landing’. He brings a murky, low-slung Acid journey, cast over a chugging, downtempo rave break. To us, this conjures memories of Warp Recordings’ early output from likes of Speedy J — raw, atmospheric, and uncommonly funky. It’s a cut we’ve tested out in the field on multiple occasions now, and it’s a certified dance-maker.

Calm ‘By Your Side’ - Remixes Part 3 is out on February 21. You can buy it here.
