Hypnotic soundscapes from Vertigo Inc
The Canadian producer returns with trademark textures
For his fourth release on his own Unfulfillment label, Canadian producer Leon Louder once again dons his Vertigo Inc cap to deliver a signature leftfield house construction overflowing with seductive atmosphere.
Leon has been producing off-kilter, experimental house jams since 2003, and following a brief hiatus, in 2014 launched Unfulfillment as a platform to explore abstract musical fomrs without compromise. Working as a musician, composer, and sound designer has endowed him with a sophisticated grasp of texture and space which he uses to skilful effect when carving out his sonic landscapes. His music has appeared on Powder's 2018 mix for Beats In Space, on UK label Mysticisms as well as his early output released on his Melted Dubs imprint.
This well-balanced collection contains four tracks including the jarring, jagged rhythms of 'E's Vision', the dance-floor burner 'Piranha', and two mixes of title track 'Qui Volé' – the wonderfully idiosyncratic original mix of which we've chosen to play you here.
The music is built around a mantra sampled from a radio news broadcast, the rolling organ bassline providing the bed for intricate layers of abstract melodies, clicks, and pulses to build to a transcendent climax. The energy grows persuasively as an exotic lead horn completes the hypnotic transportation to exotic plains before the drums disperse as consciousness is regained.
