Kyle Hall casts his intoxicating spell on 'MPC Dreams'

More exquisite work from the maestro via his Forget The Clock imprint

When his music first began to appear in the racks over a decade ago, Kyle Hall quickly became known as Detroit's great new hope, exhibiting all of the substance, grit and enigmatic soul that seems to uniquely exist among the city's finest electronic creators.

Now, with the baton firmly in hand and an undeniably strong release catalogue to his name, Hall has smoothly segued into one of the motor city's most reliably gifted artists operating today. Apparently favouring refined quality over quantity, his recent work released via his new Forget The Clock label stands tall over the vast majority of the house affiliated releases currently being churned out with relentless frequency, and on 'MPC Dreams', the height of the quality threshold is unassailable. On the cantering rhythm of opening track 'JJ Dreams Of Nippon', sensual synth motifs and rich chords rise over a bassline so sweet it's almost edible. The raw atmosphere of 'Expression' is lit up spectacularly thanks to OG Amp Fiddler's mesmerising keyboard virtuosity, while bodies are catapulted into irresistible motion on the lively bass bounce of 'Attack'. Finally, the scattered beats and metallic chords of 'Modified' provide an ever-shifting bed for jazz-funk synth leads to hypnotise and endlessly meander. Masterful work.
