When our number one dude Ryota OPP got in touch to tell us about a show he was planning with the African Acid collective, we thought it was worthy of some column inches.

As part of a tour covering India, South Korea and Japan, AAITF’s Maryisonacid and Dauwd will join forces with the OPP at Tokyo’s iconic Oppa-La Diner, for a long and expressive night of energetic and wide-ranging Afro-techno fusion.

The duo are known for their party series in Berlin — as well as taking their sound to other European capitals — and their monthly show on Gilles’s Peterson Worldwide FM. Alongside long-term collaborator Ryota on the controls for their Tokyo performance, the night promises to deliver mind-expanding sounds.

In African Acid’s own words, “May your hearts beat on our tempo and steps groove with our flow. On an acid trip around Afro rhythms, travelling from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Congo to Ghana, cruising on electronic sounds, cosmic rhythmics and psychedelic vibrations”.

Details of the event can be found here, and the complete tour list is on the flyer below.
