Bali's favourite beach-side playground to usher in the year is resplendent fashion.

Potato Head Bali have provided much to enjoy throughout 2019, thanks in no small part to a carefully curated musical line-up - which has seen them garner a fair share of column inches here on Cosmic Tiger. It's fitting, then, that they welcome the new decade in suitable style, and by playing host to a dream duo of gigantic supernovas of the dancing sounds galaxy, they'll be doing exactly that

Now, if you've found your way to this site, it's highly likely that you'll be more than familiar with Harvey and Peggy Gou.

There aren't many DJs who are as well-loved and revered as Harvey. He's one of very, very few DJs who's been able to command a quasi-mythical status and celebrity by playing consistently excellent, varied, but essentially non-commercial music. He was recently named in Rolling Stones Magazine's 'Top 25 DJ's' poll and even had a cameo as himself in the latest Mission Impossible movie.

‘You can't understand the blues until you've had your heart broken and you can't understand my music until you’ve had group sex on Ecstasy’ - Harvey.

Harvey started out his musical odyssey as a drummer in the strangely fertile ground of Cambridge, but, following a trip to New York, he swapped the drumsticks for a set of turntables, having become fascinated by Hip Hop scene there. With inspiration from the sounds of Paradise Garage and Mancuso's Loft parties, his sound evolved to encompass disco, house, and garage music, and, along with Thomas Bullock, he set up the Tonka Sound-system parties in Brighton and London.

He quickly made a name for himself as someone with an uncanny ability to move a crowd while digging up esoteric gems and musical delights. By the early '90s he had his own ‘Moist’ night at the Gardening Club in London, where he'd be joined by many heroes of the scene, including Larry Levan and Francois K. He then held down a residency at the Ministry Of Sound during its heyday, before moving to LA and then Hawaii.

He's recorded music as a solo artist as well as collaborating with other artists as Map Of Africa, and his most recent project, Locussolus. He set up cult label Black Cocks with Gerry Rooney, releasing gold dust edits and disco fuelled jams.

The word legend follows him wherever he goes, and in the midst of a 30th anniversary tour, and fresh off the back of his Pikes Ibiza residency, he arrives in Bali to welcome in the '20s. We have a giant vat of love for Harvey, so having him play in the region is something we're genuinely excited about.

Now on to Peggy Gou. The new darling of the scene - and with very good reason - she represents the complete package. Her expertly crafted productions, knack for an infectious top-line, and far-reaching DJ sets are what initially got heads turning in her direction, and since then her extremely palatable image, style and persona have sky-rocketed her into the stratosphere, leading to endorsements from brands including Louie Vuitton M.H, NIKE, Porsche and more.

She performs at the highest level venues and festivals worldwide and continues to release well crafted deep house records. Favourites include the cross-over smash of ‘It Makes You Forget’, ‘Gou Talk’, and ‘Travelling Without Arriving’.

On top of all that, Peggy recently designed her second ‘Peggy Legong’ clothing range especially for Potato Head, and the results were not only stunning but also responsibly produced - the line is made of biodegradable materials, complete with buttons made from coconut shells!

Supremely beautiful, rarely talented, and funky as fuck. Peggy Gou deserves the attention she’s currently receiving, and we're big fans of her work.
